Review highlights
Based on 3,349 reviewsHeitmiller Steakhouse is consistently praised for its high-quality steaks, particularly ribeyes and prime rib, which diners often describe as flavorful and expertly prepared. The restaurant’s attentive and efficient service is a notable strength, with staff frequently commended for their courteousness, helpful recommendations, and promptness. While most guests appreciate the accommodating approach to special requests and taste preferences, some mention minor inconsistencies, such as the quality of certain complementary items like butter. The atmosphere is generally welcoming, though occasional feedback points to areas for improvement in host/hostess interactions and accessibility. Overall, Heitmiller Steakhouse stands out as a reliable destination for steak lovers seeking a combination of excellent food and attentive service in a comfortable setting.
Our server, forgot his name, was magnificent! Attentive. Efficient. The restaurant was so accommodating when a dish didn't meet "taste expectation(s), and readily provided another option. Whenever I am in town, I enjoy coming to dine here.
First and foremost if you are looking for good damn steak this place rocks. We got a prime rib and a bone in ribeye. Get the sweet potato fries, a salad and call it a day. You can skip the rolls and pick up some at Walmart where you can get real butter. I'm not sure what they are using for butter but it's tasteless and doesn't work. The baked potato, rolls, or anything that depends on good butter were a miss. Food, however, was cooked to perfect and delicious. The atmosphere was amazing from the Lonesome Dove mural to the expert taxidermy and the architectural wood elements were fantastic. The restaurant is laid out very well and serves its customers in style. The staff left me a little confused, most servers were wearing Crocs? And some had ball caps on. The service was fantastic and it wasn't enough to drop a star but it was odd. In summary, basically bring your own butter and don't let them use theirs.
Very prompt seating for Sunday afternoon. Wait staff attentive. Patience, our waitress, was exceptional. She was courteous and checked on us frequently. Delivered our meals with accuracy and made recommendations that met our pallets. She let us know about the in house prepared desserts, bread and dressings. We enjoyed the delicious appitizer's of potatoes wedges, cheese sticks and guacamole and chips. Steaks cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The cinnamon butter and warm fresh bread complements the meal. Don't forget the in house made pies. Will eat here again.
Our server, Justin, was awesome. We asked for suggestions and the ones we ordered were delicious. We had the ribeyes, and they were so good we brought the leftovers home and reheated them for dinner. Now the hostess, on the other hand, needs a lesson in manners. There are 2 doors to get into this restaurant, and I'm pushing a wheelchair both going into the restaurant and then exiting it after our meal. She just stood there watching us and thanked us for our meal.
An absolutely amazing dinner. The steak was perfect and did not require any sauce. Covered in sauteed mushrooms and onions and butter. The grilled salmon on spinach with asparagus was perfect. The waiter was amazing as well. If you eat as kosher as possible in Texas. The stuffed mushrooms have bacon in them. They tasted good but there was something different we tasted and it was bacon. The manager removed the mushrooms from our bill. An amazing restaurant. It will be my go to place to eat when I am in Waco.
Now this is from 1 visit. I don’t usually give 5 stars, but just wow! We started with the stuffed mushrooms, which were delicious. The service was great, the food was even better. Fantastic atmosphere, so cool inside. I had the shaved Ribeye sandwich, so good! Meat was so tender topped with onions, peppers and mozzarella cheese. Our waitress gave me an Au jus sauce that was wonderful. My wife had Cajun grill tilapia with broccoli and sweat potato. Rolls and the cinnamon butter.....very good.
Ella was very sweet, she sat us right away and got our drink order. I ordered the 6oz filet rare with steamed broccoli and loaded baked potato, it came out cooked perfectly, the broccoli still had some crunch and not in the least bit soggy which is exactly how I like it. My husband got the chicken fried steak with corn and mashed potatoes, the breading was crunchy but did not overpower the tenderness of the steak, the mashed potatoes were creamy and the corn had just the right amount of salty sweet ratio. This was our first time eating here but I am positive we will be back and we're bringing more people.
Went on my own tonight while in town. Baylor senior student tending bar(missed his name) took great care of me. Fabulous steak and margarita. Highly recommend.
